IMPACT

It doesn't take much
to write a poem -
even less
to read one.

Whence comes the urge -
for the bee
to the flower?
for the honey
to crystallize?

It doesn't take much
to strike a bell -
even less
to hear one.

In but a moment
without thought
it is realized,
and the silence
is broken.

Chiaroscuro
Scatterings of brilliance
Like broken glass in the road,
Thrill me with their flashes
of pure Light.

Those piercing erratic beams
Of clarity and quality,
Dwarfing my own nature
with impunity.

While in the asphalt of my being
There is much darkness,
Ever present and all embracing
in forgiveness.

I have often wondered:
Wouldn't it be better
To be completely one way,
or the other?

Portal is a collection of 24 poems and 24 illustrations in a 60 page saddle-stitched volume at $10 each. The book also is a catalogue to order Fine Prints and T-Shirts of the Graphics. This book is self-published and illustrated in the tradition of Albrecht Dürer and William Blake among others.
